The Dogs and Cats Walkway and Sculpture Gardens officially opened on February 11, 2023 to great fanfare and has already been visited by thousands of people from all around the world. Located at Maurice A, Ferré Park, in Downtown, Miami, this outdoor art installation is a free and permanent exhibit featuring 52 oversized aluminum sculptures of 26 dogs and 26 cats painted by local artists, and intended to portray the special role pets play in our lives.

Nestled within a beautiful garden made up of perennial flowers, hibiscus, palm trees and other South Florida native plants, the one-acre garden which was carefully curated by Artistic Director, Miguel Ferro, offers the community an opportunity to appreciate and connect with art and nature simultaneously while strolling through a lush promenade that leads to spectacular views of Biscayne Bay.

The Dogs and Cats Walkway and Sculpture Gardens features an interactive/educational component. QR codes will be mounted by every sculpture so visitors can scan each piece to learn more about each animal’s breed with a short video introducing the artist and the inspiration behind every design. This breakthrough exhibit is not only intended to educate children and adults about the various breeds of dogs and cats, but also seeks to raise awareness about animal respect and protection.

This exhibit was made possible by the Bayfront Park Management Trust, which is presided by Joe Carollo, City of Miami Commissioner for District 3.
